Questions answered

Does v1.0.4 rebalance colors in an existing save?
No. The developer says existing saves keep the colors originally assigned to their items.
Do you need a new run for even color distribution?
Yes. The even distribution change applies to newly generated runs.

Patch v1.0.4 changes how color variants are generated for affected store items. It is a new-run generation change, not a live rebalance of products already present in an existing save.

What changed with item colors?

The developer’s example describes 12 items that might previously have generated as five red, four green and three blue. In a new v1.0.4 run, that set can distribute evenly as four red, four green and four blue.

This supports cleaner color rows, but it does not publish every affected product or guarantee that all shelf groups use the same count.

Does the update change existing saves?

No. Existing runs retain their original color assignments. Starting the updated game does not redistribute items already generated in that save.

Do not restart a long completion file only because a shelf has uneven colors. The placement can still be functionally correct even when the visual distribution is not symmetrical.

Should you begin a new run?

Choose based on your goal:

Goal Practical choice
Finish an established save Keep the save and accept its original color distribution
Build visually even color rows from the start Create a new run on v1.0.4 or later
Preserve achievement and store progress Avoid restarting solely for cosmetics
Compare generation behavior Keep notes from both saves and record the version

The organization guide remains useful for both versions because it separates confirmed placements from visual preferences.

How did Gather change?

The same patch makes Gather much less likely to pull from another store when an item is one of the few shared across stores. “Much less likely” is not the same as impossible.

Use the abilities guide for the verified wording and keep ambiguous products near the store where they were found.

How should you document a color set?

Record the product, store, total count, count per color, save creation version and whether the arrangement filled complete shelf rows. That makes the observation comparable without presenting one procedural layout as universal.

Review the item types reference for official task categories, the store directory for verified names and the patch history for the source timeline.
